The built-in pre-charge resistor is the core component that enables QS Antispark connectors to eliminate high-current plug arcing fundamentally. However, mismatched resistance value will cause two extreme problems: too large resistance leads to slow voltage equalization and incomplete pre-charging, still generating tiny sparks; too small resistance causes excessive instantaneous pre-charge current, resistor overheating and burnout risk. Most engineers lack a unified matching standard between battery capacity and resistor parameters, which reduces the anti-spark effect in actual projects.
The working logic of the pre-charge circuit is simple to understand. Before the main large-current contact is closed, the small pre-charge contact connects the battery terminal and the load-side capacitor first. The resistor consumes inrush current and balances the voltage difference on both sides of the loop. The larger the battery pack capacity, the more residual electric energy stored in system capacitors, which requires lower resistance to finish voltage equalization within 0.5–1 second.
