Electric sparks during plugging and unplugging high-current battery connectors have always troubled engineers in the energy storage, AGV and electric vessel industries. The visible electric arc not only burns connector terminals, shortens service life, but also brings hidden dangers of ignition in closed battery compartments. Many manufacturers use simple plastic protection shells, which cannot fundamentally eliminate arc risks. YOUWEI Tech adopts built-in pre-charging structure for QS antispark connectors to realize arc suppression from the working principle.
When two ends of a battery system are disconnected, capacitors inside the inverter and BMS store residual electric energy. Instant direct connection will produce a huge instantaneous surge current, forming a powerful electric arc. Ordinary power connectors only realize simple circuit on-off and lack buffer links. The pre-charging design adds an independent small contact inside the connector. When inserting the connector, the pre-charging contact touches first, and completes capacitor voltage equalization in advance. After the voltage difference between the two sides decreases to a safe range, the main high-current contact connects formally. At this moment, there is no large impulse current, so no obvious spark occurs.
Most low-cost imitation anti-spark connectors reduce the pre-charging resistor volume to cut costs. Under long-time frequent plugging, the resistor is easy to burn out, making the anti-spark function invalid. The QS antispark connector developed by YOUWEI Tech selects high-power resistors matched with rated current, and carries out structural reinforcement of pre-charging contacts. We conduct thousands of times plug cycle tests to verify the stability of anti-spark performance.
The difference between theoretical design and actual working conditions cannot be ignored. In low-temperature outdoor environments, the resistance value of components changes slightly. Our technical team adjusts the pre-charging circuit parameters according to low-temperature working conditions for customized orders. For high-frequency plugging scenarios such as electric forklifts and mobile charging piles, the QS series is more suitable than ordinary heavy-duty connectors.
Many purchasers confuse “arc suppression housing” with real pre-charging anti-spark connectors. It is necessary to confirm whether the product has independent pre-charging contacts during procurement. YOUWEI provides physical demonstration tests and internal structure drawings for global customers. Our engineers can select the current specification and wiring method of QS antispark connectors according to your battery pack voltage, capacity and plug frequency.
